Burning Sega CD games (Linux)

You may already experienced this problem : you just burned a game and the game boots fine. But as soon as a CD music starts, you just ear trashed sound, like a “KSSSHHHHHHH”. This is due to the Megadrive’s architecture (big endian) versus the way games are dumped (little endian).

The solution is simple : just burn audio tracks with bytes swapped !

Fortunately, the linux tool named “cdrdao” has exactly an option to to that. So to properly burn a cue / bin dump you should do something like:

Last but not least : for best quality, you should either use your own games dump (without any audio processing on tracks), or dumps which provide only plain binary tracks (.bin). All dumps with “.ape” or “.mp3” should be avoided if you want the best audio quality (and don’t forget : you only have the right to burn dump of games you already own)
